"Probably earlier," Manning said Thursday when asked if he'd like the Manning Bowl to be later or earlier in the regular season. "Probably not the first game of the season so I don't have to talk about it for the next four months. I have a feeling it will probably come early. I could be wrong. I have a feeling it will be those first couple of weeks and it's probably the best way to do it and kind of get it over with and put it all behind us."
The Manning brothers have met two times in their NFL careers with Peyton holding a 2-0 all-time edge against his younger brother.
As far as the schedule goes, Eli may get the early game he wants, both prior Manning Bowls were held in September. The first Manning Bowl -- a 26-21 Colts win at New York in 2006 -- was played in Week 1 of the NFL regular season, while the second Manning Bowl -- a 38-14 Colts win at Indianapolis in 2010 -- was played in Week 2.
With an 0-2 record against Peyton, Eli said he's doing everything he can to gain an upper-hand, "When we were at Duke together I was trying to kind of ask his receivers some questions about some of their reads and hots and what their defense was doing a little bit," Eli said. "But I think he had prepared them pretty well not to tell me anything."
Eli and the Giants will find out when Peyton and Broncos visit MetLife Stadium when the 2013 NFL schedule is released at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.
