Chargers will win Super Bowl XLVIII, according to Eagles schedule

The San Diego Chargers have never won a Super Bowl in franchise history, but if the "law of the Philadelphia Eagles home opener" holds, that could change in 2013.

What's the law you ask?

Since 2009, the team that Philadelphia plays in its home opener has gone on to win the Super Bowl. Seriously -- and here's a refresher, just in case you need it.

The Eagles first home game in 2009 was against New Orleans. The Saints beat the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.

In 2010, Green Bay opened up Philadelphia's home schedule and guess what happened? The Packers beat the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.

The streak didn't end in 2011 because that's when the Eagles opened up their home schedule with the New York Giants, the same Giants that beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

In 2012, the first regular season game at Lincoln Financial Field featured the Eagles against -- you guessed it, the Ravens. Of course, the Ravens went on to beat the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.

So will the weirdest law in football history hold up for another season? Will the Chargers win the Super Bowl? At least one person thinks so: Chargers safety Eric Weddle.

Before the schedule was released, Weddle said that he thought San Diego was the NFL's top team, "I feel like we're the best team in the league," Weddle said. "We're not here to win the AFC West here and there. We want to win a Super Bowl."

For some reason, Vegas isn't buying into this 'Eagles home opener' hype. Bovada currently has the Chargers at 40-to-1 odds to win Super Bowl XLVIII, a far cry from the 6-to-1 odds being given to the 49ers. The Eagles themselves are listed at 30-to-1.
