NFL regular-season football is 4½ months away, but in Las Vegas you can already place a wager on Week 1 games.

The game drawing the most attention is the standalone opener, Ravens-Broncos on Thursday, Sept. 5.

The LVH SuperBook opened the Broncos as 9.5-point favorites over the Super Bowl champs. Bettors jumped on the Ravens, driving the line down to 8.5. It's still the biggest spread on the board.

“The bottom line is that Denver was a very good team that got better, while the Ravens lost a lot on both sides of the ball,” assistant manager Jeff Sherman told The Linemakers on Sporting News, noting Baltimore lost key players like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Anquan Boldin, Paul Kruger and Cary Williams.

“If the Broncos were 9-point favorites last season, they should be right around that number this time around.”

In the divisional playoffs, underdog Baltimore tied Denver on Joe Flacco's 70-yard, last-minute touchdown pass to Jacoby Jones, winning 38-35 in double overtime.

The Super Bowl winner usually opens at home in the kickoff game, but a scheduling conflict with the Orioles forced the Ravens to go to Denver. Defending champs had won eight straight openers until the Giants lost 24-17 to the Cowboys last year.

In another playoff rematch, San Francisco is favored by 5.5 points over Green Bay. New Orleans hosts Atlanta laying 2.5 points, and Dallas hosts the Giants as an identical 2.5-point favorite.

Cantor Gaming plans to release lines on every NFL game Weeks 1-17 next month.
