It's a solid win-win deal for both teams (assuming the Jets are getting back the 13th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft), but that doesn't mean everyone likes the trade. In fact, the Jets' other high-profile cornerback Antonio Cromartie thinks the deal "sucks."
"It sucks. That's my reaction: It sucks," Cromartie told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. "Losing a guy like that just sucks. A leader in the locker room, a leader in the classroom, a leader on the field. A great playmaker on the field. It just sucks losing a guy like that."
He added: “I'm surprised really, to tell you the truth. I'm surprised more so than anything."
Um, how? Everyone on the planet knows the Jets and Bucs have been talking about this trade for months. Being "surprised" by Revis getting dealt is akin to being stunned when the sun sets in the West.
Cromartie can certainly be upset with the deal, but he shouldn't be that upset. Losing Revis isn't good for the Jet' short-term success, but Revis' absence could end up netting Cro some coin. He'll be asked to cover team's top wideouts in 2013, something he excelled at last year after Revis went down.
Though he'll likely lose his secondary compadre some time in the next few days, he'll also receive a shot at reminding people just how good a cornerback he can be. So it's not all bad.
