The Cleveland Browns are strongly considering a trade for Dolphins veteran wide receiver Davone Bess, according to a report from Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Bess, 27, had 61 catches for 778 receiving yards and one touchdown in 2012. Several other teams appear to be in the mix to acquire Bess, the Sun-Times reported.

The potential acquisition of Bess could provide the Browns with a dependable slot receiver to play alongside young wideouts Greg Little and Josh Gordon. The Browns are looking to build a vertical passing game under first-year offensive coordinator Norv Turner. Little led Cleveland with 53 receptions in 2012.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, could be looking to stockpile picks to move into the Top 10 and select a replacement at left tackle for Jake Long. Miami already has five picks in the Top 85 selections after trades with the Bears and Colts for Brandon Marshall and Vontae Davis, respectively. The Dolphins are also considering a trade for Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert.

In five seasons with the Dolphins, Bess has 321 catches for 3,447 yards and 12 touchdowns. Bess' top season arguably came in 2010 when he had career-highs of 79 receptions and five touchdown receptions.
