Browns defensive end Armonty Bryant, who was arrested and charged with DUI less than a week after Cleveland made him a seventh-round draft pick, entered a plea of no contest Tuesday and, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, he received a one-year deferred sentence.

Bryant also was ordered to pay $1,136 in fines and court costs, and he must listen to a victim's impact panel on the dangers of drunken driving.

The arrest occurred on Friday after Bryant blew a .098 on a breathalyzer in Ada, Okla., and was taken to jail. Bryant also was suspended for three games last season at East Central University for twice selling $20 of marijuana to an undercover officer in an on-campus parking lot.

After he was drafted, which, again, was six days before he was arrested again, this is what he told the Browns media:

"'Good people make mistakes' is something that I've always been told by my [college] coach. I feel like it was just a stupid move on my part. I should have been more mature about the situation and be more focused on football, which is something I really want to do with my life.

“Now that I've gotten that second chance, I feel like I won't let anyone down. I won't let myself, the people around me or the Cleveland Browns down. I appreciate them for taking this chance on me.”

Well, that plan's shot for now. As for his current future with the Browns?

Continued Bryant's agent to the Plain Dealer's Cabot: "Armonty was very distraught. [He] felt like he let a lot of people down, especially the Browns. [He] wanted them to hear it from him. … Armonty told me 'I'm getting Xbox live and I'm not leaving the house.'”
