Just when you thought the music industry and the NFL couldn't possibly be in any more headlines together this week, along comes Kenny Chesney. The country music star showed up at the Seahawks' training facilities Friday and practiced with the team. Seriously.
Chesney wore a helmet, ran routes and even caught passes from Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson, including two bombs you can see in the video above.
Despite being in Seattle for his "No Shoes Nation" tour, Chesney did wear shoes at practice.
So how did one of country music's biggest stars end up participating in a Seahawks practice?
"I met Pete [Carroll] a couple years ago at our show at the Tacoma Dome," Chesney said, via People.com. "We kept in touch, and when we were coming he asked me if I'd like to work out with the team. I didn't have to think about it. The answer was 'Yes.' "
Chesney made it through the practice unscathed and was able to perform Saturday at CenturyLink Field.
Chesney's appearance at Seattle's practice was a fitting end to an odd week where NFL and music news seemed to intersect almost daily.
It all started when Keyshawn Johnson jumped in his Prius to chase down pop star Justin Bieber for allegedly speeding in a Ferrari through Johnson's Calabasas (Calif.) neighborhood. Then, the NFL announced it would be looking into whether rap mogul Jay-Z and his Roc Nation agency violated any of the union's regulations during its pursuit of players. And then Chesney closed the week with his cameo at Seattle's practice.
Maybe next week we'll get Justin Timberlake trying to make the Jets roster as a quarterback.
