As we enter the final month of the offseason, one of the most underrated free agents still left on the market was former Bears defensive end Israel Idonije. Yes, Idonije turns 33 in November, but there's little denying that he was still playing at a high level the past three years in Chicago.

The Lions think so as well, as they've reportedly signed Idonije to a one-year deal, according to PFT.

The fact that Idonije went through most of the offseason without a job was surprising. He managed 48 tackles last season to go with 7.5 sacks (only .5 sacks off his career high). In February and March, it seemed as though the Bears might be interested in giving him back his old job.

"He's done a number of good things and had a number of good games both outside and inside," Bears general manager Phil Emery said then. "He's a guy we will sit down with and talk to about coming back. He's got versatility, and that's a positive thing for Izzy. He's done a good job for us."

The Titans and the 49ers also reportedly expressed interest in Idonije, but, obviously, they didn't want him as badly as Detroit.

Now that he'll play in Detroit, it'll be intriguing to see how he fits into a well-stocked defensive line, one of the best in the league, that includes Nick Fairley, Ndamukong Suh, Jason Jones, and first-round pick Ziggy Ansah.
