It hasn't been a great offseason for former eighth overall picks. Rolando McClain, the No. 8 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Raiders, was cut by Oakland in April.

Now the eighth pick in the 2007 draft is out of a job, too, as the Cincinnati Bengals announced Wednesday they've released defensive end Jamaal Anderson.

Anderson was drafted by the Falcons in 2007 and spent four seasons in Atlanta before signing with the Colts as a free agent in 2011. Anderson had been cut by the Falcons for not living up to the hype of a top-10 pick. Anderson recorded only 4 1/2 sacks during his four seasons in Atlanta.

After one season with Indianapolis, Anderson made the short move down I-74 to Cincinnati, where he signed a two-year, $5.5 million deal with the Bengals in March of 2012.

Anderson's Bengals career consisted of exactly two games. Anderson tore his quadriceps in a Week 2 win over the Browns and was eventually placed on injured reserve.
