Chiefs rookie Sanders Commings breaks collarbone

Defensive back Sanders Commings' first NFL training camp lasted a grand total of one day. The Chiefs' fifth-round pick in the April draft fractured his left collarbone Tuesday while contesting a pass during the team's opening practices for rookies, quarterbacks and selected veterans, the team announced via Twitter.

Commings, who played collegiately at Georgia, has experience at both cornerback and safety, and he was listed as cornerback Sean Smith's backup heading into camp.

The Kansas City Star's Randy Covitz reports that Commings will miss anywhere from 2-6 weeks.
