Cowboys Stadium to be renamed AT&T Stadium

Welcome to ... AT&T Stadium. (USATSI)
Cowboys Stadium, which we've affectionately referred to as the Jerry Dome, Jerry's World, and the Jones Mahal at one time or another, finally has an official name: AT&T Stadium. It's a multi-year deal, according to the Associated Press.

It's not quite as evocative as, say, the aforementioned Jones Mahal, but that's the beauty of naming rights: Pay enough and you can call it anything you want.

Cowboys Stadium opened in May 2009 at a cost of $1.3 billion. It holds 80,000 fans for football games, has 342 executive suites, and boasts a scoreboard that is 72 feet wide, 160 feet long, and is suspended 90 feet above the playing surface.

Not surprisingly, the announcement of the stadium's new name led to the requisite Twitter jabs.

No word on whether Jerry Jones will commemorate the occasion with a song and dance.
