Jordy Nelson out for Packers training camp after knee procedure

No sooner had we written that Randall Cobb suffered an injury during Tuesday's training camp practice -- turns out it was a bicep injury -- and note that there should be a little concern for Packers fans than did things get a little bit more nerve-racking with Mike McCarthy's announcement that Jordy Nelson is out for the rest of training camp.

Per McCarthy, Nelson will miss the rest of the Packers offseason program after undergoing a "procedure" on his knee.

The Packers coach is "hopeful" that Nelson will be ready for Week 1 against the 49ers but the timing of the injury is certainly concerning.

Nelson played in just 12 games in 2012 -- and just 10 of which were starts -- with a hamstring injury, though he did still manage 49 catches for 745 yards last season.

That was somewhat of a disappointment after a breakout year in 2011 when Nelson caught 68 passes for 1,263 yards while emerging as one of Aaron Rodgers favorite targets.

McCarthy did say that left tackle Bryan Bulaga is still not officially ruled out for the season, despite reports, but the team was waiting on another medical opinion to confirm his status.

Still, for a team as likely to challenge for a Super Bowl run as Green Bay, there've been an awful lot of injuries (even minor ones) to major players pretty early in the season.
