Much in the same way that Eagles receiver Arrelious Benn has been susceptible to injury in his career, the same goes for Chargers receiver Danario Alexander, who suffered through three ACL tears in college and another at a Senior Bowl practice.

Thus, on the same day Benn was lost to an ACL tear, the Chargers announced Tuesday evening that Alexander had suffered the same injury.

Alexander played only a total of 18 games in his first two seasons with the Rams, but after suffering a hamstring injury in training camp last year, St. Louis cut him. He eventually signed with the Chargers last October, and he caught 37 passes for 658 yards and seven touchdowns -- all of which were career highs.

"I'm just trying to take advantage of every rep ... all I can do is produce," Alexander said late last month. "I'm not going to make any predictions, but I'm feeling confident."

Alexander was a favorite to win a starting job opposite Malcom Floyd. Now, it appears as though Eddie Royal and rookie Keenan Allen will have a chance to win that job.
