One of Aaron Hernandez's cousins -- who reportedly is close with the former Patriots tight end in jail on charges of killing Odin Lloyd -- has been imprisoned since Aug. 1 because of her refusal to testify in front of the grand jury, the Hartford Courant reports.
Tanya Cummings-Singleton, 37, was deemed in contempt of court after she was subpoenaed to testify. She was married to Hernandez's late uncle and reportedly lives at a home that police have searched multiple times. She also allegedly has spent time at Hernandez's home.
Authorities claim Cummings-Singleton also bought a bus ticket to Florida for Ernest Wallace, who has been charged with accessory to the murder. Wallace was eventually apprehended in Miramar, Fla.
Another alleged accomplice, Carlos Ortiz, also allegedly talked with Cummings-Singleton about the murder.
More from the Courant:
Cummings-Singleton also attended each of Wallace's court appearances. Investigators have not found the phone Wallace used to communicate with Hernandez and Lloyd hours before the shooting. That phone was registered to Cummings-Singleton under her former name, Tanya Cummings. She previously was married to Jeff Cummings, who later became Hernandez's stepfather.
Authorities two weeks ago ordered Cummings-Singleton's phone and credit cards seized …
Hernandez's next court date is scheduled for Aug. 22.
