Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon escorted out after sideline spat

Wide receiver Justin Blackmon certainly made an impact in Friday's preseason game vs. the Dolphins -- but probably not in the way the Jacksonville Jaguars wanted.

And he didn it without even playing.

Blackmon got into an argument from the sideline with Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll in the second quarter, and Jacksonville's top receiver, out with a groin injury, had to be escorted to the locker room with running back Maurice Jones-Drew leading the way.

After the game, Blackmon met with Jaguars coach Gus Bradley.

"You know how it is in the preseason," Bradley said, according to the Florida Times-Union. "Sometimes a player talks to the sideline. It started off as just banter and I just addressed it. I turned to him and said, 'There's no place [for that]. I'd rather you use your energy to encourage our guys and not get caught in that.'

"He came right to my office [after the game] and met with me."

Blackmon, as you'll recall, hasn't made the best impressions on the Jags' new coaching staff and front office. He was suspended for the first four games of this season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, and recent groin surgery has him on the physically unable to perform list.

"I look forward to putting this behind me and maturing and growing as a person," Blackmon said at the time of his suspension.

According to the Associated Press, Jaguars defensive end Jason Babin told Blackmon to be quiet as he argued with Carroll, and that led to Blackmon getting defensive with Babin.

After leaving the sideline in the second quarter, Blackmon returned for the start of the second half where he gave Bradley a hug.

Still, Blackmon continues to make a negative impact with Jacksonville. And for a guy who says he wants to mature, that's disappointing.
