It might be the preseason but Colts owner Jim Irsay has expectations. Perhaps this is what comes from having Peyton Manning lead your team for 14 seasons, or maybe it's overcompensating for 2011's two-win effort. Whatever the rationale, the Man in Charge was wholly unimpressed following the team's 44-20 loss to the Bills on Sunday.

We know this because a day later he tweeted as much.

Coach Chuck Pagano was more measured in his comments, probably because he understands that the NFL season is a six-month grind, and the only thing you remember from the first week of preseason games are the injuries.

"Obviously, everybody, top to bottom, is disappointed," Pagano said after the game. "We never envisioned going out and playing a football game and having the outcome that we had. We've obviously got to play better, and we will play better."

A day later, Pagano has more thoughts on what went wrong and why.

"I think probably a combination of [mental and physical errors]," the coach said during a Monday conference call. "You get a lot of young guys out there -- I don't mean it as an excuse -- but we made some mental errors and then, give [the Bills] credit, they did a nice job and put some heat on us, put some pressure on us and some things like that."

The Colts face the Giants next Saturday. God help us all if they don't win that meaningless game.
