Update 6:30 p.m. ET: CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports that Brady's injury is just a sprain and that's it not too serious. You may resume breathing Boston. More info here.
Breathe, Boston. Breathe. But you need to know that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady left practice on Wednesday afternoon after taking a hit to his left knee -- the same, gulp, one he injured in 2008 when he missed the entire season -- and limping gingerly off the field.
It's unclear how Brady actually ended up on the ground -- though Shalise Young of the Boston Globe reports Brady "did not take a hit" -- but according to multiple reports from folks at the scene, Brady took a while to stand up and then moved gingerly off the field.
It appears however, from a fan video taken by Patriots fan @ChadKopcak that Brady went down after Patriots tackle Nate Solder fell into him after being pushed backwards. Not pretty:
Brady then met with Bill Belichick, Josh McDaniels and Jim Whalen and left the field to head into the practice bubble (presumably never, at least for today, to return.)
If you really want to crank up the old panic meter, feel free to read deeply into Robert Kraft leaving the field as well:
No idea if it means anything but Kraft left the field after Brady but went in the opposite direction. Brady to bubble. Kraft to stadium.— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 14, 2013
It's more than likely that Kraft, understandably, left the field to check with everyone on how his star quarterback was doing.
Inconceivably, it happens to be Tim Tebow's birthday today.
Tim my son, for your birthday I got you the Patriots QB job. Sorry Tom, somebody had to be the Lamb.— NFL Jesus (@NFLJesus) August 14, 2013
