KISS bringing AFL team to Los Angeles

The rock band KISS is bankrolling an expansion Arena Football team, aptly named the LA KISS, the AFL announced on Thursday.

Rockers Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley will be co-owners, and the team will begin play in March of 2014 at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

“Arena football is played at a fast and furious pace, and making season tickets available now for the budget-friendly price of $99 gives a whole new meaning to bang for the buck,” Stanley said in a completely unoriginal statement.

On top of the tickets though, those who purchase the full season set will be treated to a free KISS concert. Also, the franchise's logo will reportedly remain the same as the band's, according to ESPN, but it's not clear whether the team's colors will be silver and black, a tribute to the band's costumes.

“As a fast-paced, high-action band this partnership with the AFL was an obvious fit for us,” Simmons said in a statement. “Attending an LA KISS game in 2014 will be similar to a live KISS show, with thrilling, heart-pounding action.”

No word on how the KISS cam will work, but here's to hoping it's something like this.
