If you blinked, you may have missed Le'Veon Bell's debut for the Steelers. The rookie second-round pick was drafted to help reestablish a running game that was nonexistent at times a year ago. And after missing Pittsburgh's first preseason game with a left knee injury, Bell took the field with the starters Monday night against the Redskins.
Four carries and nine yards later, he was on the sidelines "with his right shoe off," according to ESPN's Monday Night Football telecast. The Steelers announced that Bell suffered a right foot injury and he's done for the night.
The @steelers running back Le'Veon Bell has a right foot injury. He will not return to action tonight.— Burt Lauten (@SteelersPRBurt) August 20, 2013
Bell has been impressive during training camp but that was far from evident against Washington. The Steelers also have running backs Jonathan Dwyer, Isaac Redman and Baron Batch also on the depth chart.
