Giants co-owner: 'Hard Knocks' not in the players' best interest

If you were hoping the New York Giants might appear on HBO's Hard Knocks next year or the year after that or any year ever, you should probably stop hoping now. Giants co-owner Steve Tisch doesn't sound to enthusiastic about seeing his team on the HBO show.

"I don't think it brings anything to the team. It's so not about who we are," Tisch said, via TMZ.com. "I don't think it's in the players best interest."

Just because Tisch doesn't want his team on the show doesn't mean he doesn't watch though. Tisch actually very much enjoys Hard Knocks.

"It's fun to watch," he said. "I' very happy watching the Bengals and the Jets and other teams do it."

The bottom line though: Hard Knocks is a distraction and the Giants won't be doing it.

"I think it's a bit of distraction and I think it's sort of misleading for the players," Tisch said. "Especially the young guys. Even though it comes off as a documentary, you're asking young athletes to perform. Perform on the field, don't perform in the locker room for a TV show."

That makes two Giants co-owners against Hard Knocks. Co-owner John Mara said in 2010 he'll be dead before Hard Knocks happens with his team, "[A Hard Knocks] announcement will come when I'm next to my father in Gates of Heaven cemetery," Mara said.
