Entering the preseason, Jo-Lonn Dunbar was expected to be a starting linebacker for the Rams after gathering 115 tackles last year, second-most on the team.

Instead, Dunbar got hit with a four-game suspension after violating the league's policy on PEDs, and now, according to Howard Balzer, St. Louis has simply cut him from the squad.

Clearly, coach Jeff Fisher wasn't pleased with Dunbar's transgression.

"First and foremost, we are very, very disappointed in his choices and his decisions," Fisher said after the suspension was announced. "It's selfish, it hurts the team but we also see it as an opportunity to learn from a mistake, so we discussed it with the entire squad last night and I think everybody understands the responsibilities that each and every player has as far as taking care of themselves and what you can do and what you can't do."

Will Witherspoon, signed in July, will start in Dunbar's place.

"We're glad he's here,” Fisher said in mid-August. "He's started a lot of games and then we'll make a decision when Jo-Lonn comes back as to who is going to take that position."

A decision that apparently won't include Dunbar after all.
