Koa Misi signs four-year extension worth reported $17 million

The Dolphins announced Saturday that they had signed linebacker Koa Misi to a four-year extension, meaning he's now inked through the 2017 season, and according to Brian McIntyre, it's a deal worth $17 million with $8 million guaranteed.

Misi, the team's second-round draft pick in 2010, was in the final year of his four-year, $4.6 million contract, and he was scheduled to make a $630,000 base salary along with about $550,000 worth of bonuses.

Though Misi had been somewhat disappointing in his first two seasons, he had a breakout season in 2012, recording 65 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He also said in the offseason that he was even more comfortable as he enters the second season of defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle's 4-3 scheme.
