Report: Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski doesn't make trip to Buffalo

With Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski listed as doubtful in this week's injury report, it was thought there was a chance, however small it was, he could take the field for New England.

According to, though, Gronkowski hasn't traveled to Buffalo with his teammates. Which would indicate that Gronkowski will not play at all vs. the Bills.

That wouldn't be an enormous surprise since Gronkowski continues to rehab his forearm and back and he only began practicing recently. Besides, there was a report a few weeks ago that the team was targeting Week 3 as Gronkowski's return date (the Patriots play on Thursday in Week 2).

“We take it day to day," coach Bill Belichick said early this week. "I don't know any other way to do it. We don't know how he's going to be feeling in two days. Or any other player. It's not about him, it's about any player that's coming back from injury. That's how we do it. Nobody has a crystal ball."

Gronkowski, though, impressed at least one of his teammates when he put on the practice pads.

"Gronk is obviously a big part of our team," tight end Michael Hoomanawanui said last Sunday. "He is a great football player. He's a great guy to be around. There are no real highs and lows with Rob; all the stuff he's gone through you would kind of think it would be human nature to see that. He's taken his punches and he always seems to stay up high. To see that, and be around, I think it lifts everyone else's spirits, too. It's something I admire about him, not only as a football player but as a person.

"He looked good. He looked almost Gronk-esque."

Unfortunately for New England fans, it seems like it'll be at least another week before they get to actually see him.
