Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia: 'I hate the Redskins'

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is known for his sometimes controversial, always conservative positions delivered from the bench. But his contentious views extend beyond the courtroom.

In a speech Friday in Houston about Christianity, Scalia was asked if he was a Redskins fan. A seemingly innocuous (if unrelated) question for a man appointed to the Supreme Court in 1986 ... until Scalia opened his mouth.

“I'm not really much of a football fan," he said, via the Washington Post. "To the extent I am, I hate the Redskins. In fact, I always root for Dallas.”

Scalia was also asked about the current situation in Syria but on matters of foreign policy, the justice was able to show restraint.

"Naw, I shouldn't talk about that. I have strong views on it, though.”

So there you have it: The hometown professional football team: Scalia hates them. Syria: He can't talk about it publicly.

No word on if Scalia and Chris Christie watch Cowboys games together via Skype while wearing matching Roger Staubach jerseys.
