Report: Danny Amendola could miss 2-6 weeks, Gronk back Week 4?

The Patriots are relatively weapon-less on Thursday night against the Jets (watch Pete Prisco and I preview the game live on at 7:30!) what with Danny Amendola "almost certain" to miss the game with a groin injury.

And it could be bad for a while: Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Thursday that Amendola could miss between two and six weeks.

There's obviously good news here though: Gronkowski coming back in Week 4 would immediately give the Patriots a boost to their offense.

But losing Amendola is still devastating news for the Patriots early-season setup. Amendola's the one wideout who really developed a rapport with Tom Brady. He's the new Wes Welker but replacing Welker would be impossible if Amendola's not on the field.

Julian Edelman was a very nice target for Brady last week and Kenbrell Thompkins was targeted a lot, but Amendola is Brady's No. 1 option.

Or was anyway. For the next few weeks Brady will have to deal without him. Fortunately for the Patriots, Tom Brady's done plenty of good with lesser receivers before.

That offense could struggle, though, especially if Gronk doesn't return quickly. We'll get to see just much first thing on Thursday night.
