2014 Super Bowl Odds: Redskins, Steelers bandwagons empty early

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

This probably isn't surprising, but the bandwagons for the Redskins and Steelers are empty at this point. Good luck finding someone who believes in them, and if that person is in Vegas, well, you should tell them bet on one of those squads.

It's not that bad a bet, actually. Ben Roethlisberger or Robert Griffin III could flip things around real quick and both teams have a nice price (Washington is 75-1, Pittsburgh is 100-1). It just feels odd to have both those teams at such a low price so early in the season.

Not that they don't deserve it. The Steelers offense is a bigger trainwreck than Steely McBeam. Washington's secondary is a group of aerial matadors. Neither of these teams look good. But they're both in bad divisions that should be competitive throughout the year. Weirder things have happened and betting on someone to win the Super Bowl should involve rolling the dice a little bit.

Notable Movements
-- Hey, hey Seahawks and 49ers. You guys just got flipped for real. Seattle beat San Francisco on Sunday night and now Vegas has flopped the two teams. It's to be expected, but don't read too much into it. Seattle has a statistical edge on the Niners for a Super Bowl spot. If anything, San Francisco is a better value.

-- The Dolphins and Chiefs are questionable 2-0 climbers. I like both teams and I'm impressed by what they're doing. But would I invest now in either to win it all? No sir.

-- A team I do like is the Lions. I don't buy them as a legit Super Bowl winner but at 50-1? Reggie Bush is fine by all accounts and if he stays healthy the whole season this team could scare it.

-- So quickly off the Andrew Luck bandwagon? The Colts fell (66-1) after being on the first page this week. That division, aside from Jacksonville, might be tougher than we thought.

-- Hmm. The Panthers are now really cheap (100-1) just a few weeks after being my Super Bowl odds sleeper? I would say it's an obvious double-down situation but I actually like money and I can't trust the Panthers not to screw up late-game situations.

-- What the hell is that green arrow by the Raiders? I must've made a mistake.
