Brett Favre's agent Bus Cook: Favre 'could play today'

By John Breech | CBSSports.com

Lost in the midst of all the Tim Tebow news is that there's another unemployed quarterback out there people love to hate: Brett Favre. Although, unlike Tebow, Favre doesn't have a job in the NFL because he doesn't want one, not because he can't get one.

Favre's agent Bus Cook was in Alabama on Monday and he reiterated that exact point, that if Favre wanted to play in the NFL this year, he could.

"Today, he could play today,'' Cook said, via AL.com. "I saw him the other day. He's in the best shape I've ever seen him in, physically."

Cook then went on to describe a man who sounds a lot like Paul Bunyan, but in fact, Cook was describing Favre.

"His arms look like a blacksmith's arms," Cook said. "He rides a bike probably 30-50 miles a day. He runs four or five miles a day. He's coaching at the high school and they're undefeated. He loves it. His body fat is 7.5 percent and he weighs 225 pounds. He could play today, better than a lot of them out there today."

Maybe not a lot them, but Favre would definitely be a step-up in Jacksonville, where Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne have combined to throw one touchdown pass and four interceptions through three games.

Cook then went on to give possibly the best four sentence description of Favre that anyone's ever given. "He made the game exciting to watch. He was going to throw it to somebody. It may not be who it was supposed to be, but somebody," Cook said. "And he just loved to play football."

Favre was exciting to watch, you can't argue that, and he would literally throw it to anybody, as his NFL-record 336 interceptions will attest too. And we can all probably agree Favre loved football. If Favre does decide to ever make a comeback -- I know, I shouldn't even put the thought in his head -- he'll need to do it soon. The ol' gunslinger turns 44-years-old on Oct. 10.
