A day after Josh Freeman said publicly in an unauthorized interview that he's ready to move on from the Buccaneers after coach Greg Schiano benched him for rookie Mike Glennon, the team will consider making Freeman inactive for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

That leaves Glennon and backup Dan Orlovsky at the Bucs' two options at quarterback. Glennon has yet to take a regular-season NFL snap, and Orlovsky last started an NFL game in 2011 with the Colts.

On Thursday night, Freeman told ESPN that he has to focus on the best situation for himself.

“Obviously the head coach has come out and said that this isn't the place for me to be a starting quarterback," Freeman said. "He doesn't think that I give this team the best chance to win. I don't agree, but at the same time I'm the player and he's the coach. Whatever happens next, I'm moving on. I'm going to be excited to go out and make the most of any situation.”

The Bucs encouraged Freeman to be available to the media on Wednesday and Thursday, but he declined. His interview with ESPN wasn't authorized by the team.

“Josh just needed his voice to be heard,'' agent Erik Burkhardt told the Times regarding Freeman's decision to speak with ESPN.

"[The] bottom line is, if you want things to change, something has got to change," Freeman said. "At the end of the day, yes. I think that moving forward [a trade] might be, that is going to be probably the best option.”

For now, Freeman has been demoted. And come Sunday, he could be inactive. The 2009 first-round pick had started 59 games before he was benched this week.
