Josh Freeman inactive; reportedly missed meeting this week

As expected, recently benched Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman will be inactive for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

The decision was made, in part, because Freeman has played poorly through three weeks, he conducted an interview with ESPN that wasn't authorized by the team, and he reportedly missed "at least one, maybe more meetings this week," according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Rookie third-round pick Mike Glennon will make his first NFL start (watch out, mountains). And with Freeman on the sidelines in civvies, veteran Dan Orlovsky will be the Bucs' No. 2 quarterback.

Meanwhile, CBS Sports NFL Insider La Canfora doesn't expect Freeman to remain in Tampa Bay much longer, and the 2009 first-round pick said earlier this week that a trade out of town is probably in everyone's best interests.

“Obviously the head coach has come out and said that this isn't the place for me to be a starting quarterback," Freeman said Thursday. "He doesn't think that I give this team the best chance to win. I don't agree, but at the same time I'm the player and he's the coach. Whatever happens next, I'm moving on. I'm going to be excited to go out and make the most of any situation. …

"[The] bottom line is, if you want things to change, something has got to change," Freeman continued. "At the end of the day, yes. I think that moving forward [a trade] might be, that is going to be probably the best option.”
