Jermichael Finley's son: 'I don't want you to play football anymore'

By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com

Ever wonder what it's like to get a concussion? Packers tight end Jermichael Finley discussed the one he suffered in the Packers' Week 3 loss to the Bengals, when he took an inadvertent knee to the head, courtesy of Cincinnati safety George Iloka (you can watch the hit here).

"I looked to the sidelines and all I saw was jerseys, I saw the yellow pants we wear and I didn't see no head or legs -- everybody was decapitated and my body was on fire," Finley said. …

"As I got to the locker room, Dr. Gray told me, 'You can throw me across this training room if you want, but your butt is not going into that game.' I said, ‘Actually, I do want to throw you across this locker room right now.'

"But at the end of the day I know it's in my best interest to sit out."

Finley also talked about how the injury affected his family.

"When I came back to reality, when I got my senses, when I got my balance and my vision back, I picked up my phone and my wife had called at least 30-plus times. … She put my [son] on the phone and he asked if there was a flight I could catch -- during the game -- and he said, 'Daddy, I don't want you to play football anymore.'

"That was a little hard to take."

Meanwhile, Finley still has to follow the NFL concussion protocol before he'll be allowed to play. The Packers host the Lions this Sunday.
