Tony Gonzalez wants to remain a member of the Falcons despite their 1-4 start. He has made that much known. But that doesn't mean Gonzalez will definitely wind up remaining with Atlanta and as CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports (see: video above), there are teams interested.
So what are possible destinations? La Canfora names the Ravens, Patriots and Chiefs specifically. All three make a ton of sense. New England needs weapons, Baltimore really needs weapons (particularly on the intermediate route-type stuff) and Kansas City is where Gonzo spent most of his career playing.
"It's all going to be in Tony's court," La Canfora notes.
That's the key -- if the Falcons talk with Gonzalez and both decide the best thing is to try to get him to a contender and pull back a draft pick for Atlanta at the same time, it's impossible to rule out.
Other names La Canfora mentions:
- Justin Tuck -- With the Giants fading out of contention and Tuck in a contract year, teams could start calling about the pass rusher.
- Kenny Britt -- Britt is "not fitting in" and lots of teams need wide receivers.
- Maurice Jones-Drew -- He's not driving a ton of hype right now but the Jaguars are obviously sellers and MJD can still run the ball, which could absolutely help out a contender.
- Cleveland -- A "very proactive front office" isn't afraid to deal, obviously. La Canfora believes Mitchell Schwartz and Greg Little could be players potentially traded.
