Report: Michael Vick won't play Sunday vs. Buccaneers

In the span of six days, we've gone from Michael Vick as the likely starter this Sunday against the Buccaneers, to questionable, to almost certainly out. The Eagles quarterback had to leave last week's game against the Giants with a hamstring injury, and it was backup Nick Foles who helped lead Philly to their second win of the season.

Now, according to an ESPN report, Vick will not play in Tampa Bay because of his hamstring. Despite showing mobility in practice this week, Eagles coach Chip Kelly has said repeatedly that he wouldn't put Vick "in harm's way." Which means that Foles, the 2012 third-round pick, will make his first start of the season. Rookie fourth-rounder Matt Barkley, who was inactive the first five games, is expected to serve as Foles' backup.

Last year, Foles started six games for the Eagles, completing 61 percent of his passes for 1,699 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions. Against the Giants last week, Foles finished 16 of 25 for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Both of Foles' touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter.

At 2-3, the Eagles are tied atop the NFC East with the Cowboys, a half-game clear of the Redskins, and 2.5 games clear of the 0-6 Giants.

The Bucs, meanwhile, are 0-4 and are dealing with a whole host of issues, both on and off the field.
