Shayanna Jenkins, the fiancee of Aaron Hernandez, pled not guilty on a perjury charge Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court.

Jenkins, the Associated Press reports, was released on her own recognizance after her arraignment Tuesday.

The perjury charge against Jenkins stems from the prosecution's claim that Jenkins lied to the grand jury about where she put a box that Hernandez asked her to "get rid of."

According to the prosecution, Jenkins repeatedly stated that she couldn't remember where she put the box. Jenkins lawyers contest that the defendant answered every all the questions she was asked while in front of the grand jury.

Hernandez, who was arraigned on Sept. 6, entered a plea of not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd.
