One of the more unheralded stories in the NFL is Alfred Morris' car. Yes, his car. The Redskins running back owns a 1991 Mazda he calls "Bentley." Before the season began we learned that Mazda offered to take Bentley and have it completely restored and Alf was taking them up on it.
Now he's gotten the car back. And while Mazda said they were going to totally restore it to factory settings it's not exactly "as good as new." It's much better:
As part of their deal with Morris, Mazda took the car entirely apart and put it back together, providing us the cool look at the guts of a car that's older than some of you people reading about this (and nearly as old as Morris himself).
The real restoration beauty is in before-and-after pictures of the engine, helpfully GIF'd for your shock, awe, etc.
And yes, for those with a quick eye, you may have spotted a little customization on the new engine. It sports the line "The Alfred Morris Project."
Additionally, Washington, D.C.-area Mazda dealers appear to have thrown a CD player and a GPS in there. (These don't normally come factory equipped in 1991 cars, kids.)
All of that -- plus the custom front plate with "Bentley" on it -- resulted in Morris driving away a happy man.
“I'm so happy to get my baby back," Morris said. "She might be our good luck charm."
