Adrian Peterson misses Wednesday practice for personal reasons

Before playing last Sunday against the Panthers, running back Adrian Peterson -- whose 2 year old son died last week after allegedly being beaten by the child's mother's boyfriend -- said there was no question he would play because “God wanted something good” to come from the tragedy.

After Minnesota lost, Peterson said, he wanted "people to understand my mindset. Any bad I try to take good from it. That's the way I approach life. I never thought about not playing. It was all about going out there and praying that I have the strength to get through. That was my focus."

On Wednesday, though, Peterson was not at Vikings practice because of personal reasons, coach Leslie Frazier said. Frazier would not say whether the absence had anything to do with the death of Peterson's son.

Frazier, though, expects Peterson to play Monday vs. the Giants.

"He and I will talk later [Wednesday], but I expect him to be back [Thursday] ready to go," Frazier said, via St. Paul Pioneer Press. "It's a very difficult situation, without question. And it has many challenges."
