It's become quite clear that Michael Vick's hamstring is hurting him and hurting him worse than he thought. And though Eagles coach Chip Kelly hasn't said definitively who will start for his team Sunday vs. the Cowboys, Vick made it clear how he feels about the situation.
"No, I'm not playing this week," Vick said Thursday, via the Philadelphia Inquirer.
That was what Vick said after practice, so it probably outweighs what Kelly said before practice Thursday.
"He said he's going to run around a little bit more today, so we'll see where he is," Kelly said.
And Vick is not in a place where he feels he can play, which will give Nick Foles another week to impress the coaching staff and perhaps continue to push Vick out of the starting spot even when he is healthy enough to play.
Who knows? Maybe Foles, who completed 22 of 31 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns last week in a win against the Buccaneers, is already there, and Kelly just isn't telling anybody.
"We can't look that far down the road," Vick said. "We have to take care of what we're going to take care of this week. I have to get back to 100 percent, and until then Nick is the quarterback of this football team, and that's where we stand."
Either way, at least one person thinks this is great news. And he plays for the Cowboys defense.
