Brian Cushing is done for the season. The Texans linebacker broke his leg and suffered a torn LCL against Kansas City on Sunday, according to NFL.com. Cushing was carted off the field and taken to the Texans locker room after injuring his leg in the third quarter.
Cushing was rushing Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith when he was hit by a low block from Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles. The low blow sent Cushing immediately to the ground where he was grabbing his left leg. You can see a GIF of the injury here, but you may not want to click if you're faint of heart -- or if you're eating.
This is the second year in a row that Cushing's season has ended early. The fifth-year linebacker missed almost all of last season after tearing the ACL in his left knee in Week 5. That injury sidelined Cushing for nine months.
Losing Cushing will be a blow to the top ranked Texans defense. Going into Sunday's game against Kansas City, Cushing was third on the team in sacks (1.5), tied for first in interceptions (1) and the team-leader in tackles (44).
