It was a glorious moment for the rookie right up until he stopped just short of the end zone and ...
Turning to face the opposition and grabbing your mess as you fly into the end zone almost never sits well with anyone. It stands to reason Ryan could be fined by the league. And the Patriots aren't happy about it either, but they'll be dealing with it in-house.
"I don't want to get into too much detail talking about that, but there are certain things that come over the season that we have to handle in-house, and I think that's one of those things," Matthew Slater said. “He's a great kid, and he's been nothing but respectful since he's gotten here. That's something we just have to handle in-house."
Slater is the special-teams captain and thus has some locker-room pull. And, per Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, made it appear as if he might've already had a little captain's chat with the Rutgers rookie.
"I think that falls under a lot of different umbrellas," Slater said. "I think when situations like that arise, they're addressed. "We don't look at that as being a problem in the future. It'll be taken care of."
In other words? That's pretty much the polar opposite of what New England envisions as the "Patriot Way." One way or another they'll fix the glitch.
