Percy Harvin won't play for Seahawks Monday night

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

When the Seahawks announced last week Percy Harvin returned from practice, there were many who believed he'd suit up Monday to begin the season in prime time against the Rams. That won't be happening.

Pete Carroll said on Saturday that Harvin won't play Monday -- though he hasn't "officially" been ruled out -- and remains "day-to-day."

The idea that Harvin could've returned in Week 8 is kind of crazy. That would put him well ahead of his projected recovery timeline (the general working theory was Week 11 I believe).

Plus, the Seahawks don't really need him. They're on the road in a divisional game, but Kellen Clemens is starting for the Rams after Sam Bradford went down for the year with an ACL injury.

Seattle should handle St. Louis easily with or without Harvin.

This means the more general target time of "November" is fully in play. Next Thursday is Halloween and Week 9 will be the first NFL action of the month.
