Report: Cards could be willing to trade Larry Fitzgerald this offseason

By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com

Could Larry Fitzgerald be traded this offseason? (USATSI)

With Tuesday's trade deadline approaching, plenty of teams are looking for wide receivers. The Cardinals aren't expected to move Larry Fitzgerald in the coming days but that could change after the season.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter "a trade for Fitzgerald will be in play this offseason ... when some believe a divorce is somewhere between possible and inevitable."

Fitgerald, Arizona's first-round pick in 2004, remains one of the league's best receivers, although he's been plagued by substandard quarterback play in recent years. That said, his contract could be a huge obstacle; Fiztgerald's cap hit for 2014 is $18 million and it goes up to $21.3 million in 2015.

Still, if teams like 49ers, Patriots, Lions, Ravens and Colts don't land a wideout in the coming days, there could be interest in Fitzgerald once the offseason arrives. And whether the Cardinals want to admit it or not, they're in rebuilding mode and can use all the high-round draft picks they can get.
