Every year Jon Gruden's name gets thrown into rumors about coaching openings in the NFL. Go ahead and add this year to the mix too, as Gruden didn't do anything to quash possible rumors of his return.
Gruden, speaking at a Gateway Bank event in Ocala, Florida, pointed out his perfect record since being fired from Tampa Bay but also admitted he'd like to give it another run at coaching.
“I haven't lost a game in 3½ years," Gruden said jokingly. "But no, I would like to give coaching one more try."
Gruden's been out of the game for a while, but keeps generating heat in the job-search department. That's largely in part to his current gig for ESPN on Monday Night Football, where he can't be tarnished in the won-loss column.
For as much as folks don't like the frequency of "THIS GUY" and some of Gruden's other sayings, the dude knows football. He's got a Super Bowl ring and has done a superb job of keeping his name circulating.
If he ultimately does want to make the jump back into the coaching ring -- and at this point you'd assume that he would only take the most choice of jobs -- he should be able to pick his landing spot.
