One of the NFL's most dangerous punt returners is done for the year. Browns return man Travis Benjamin will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL, coach Rob Chudzinski announced on Monday.

"Travis obviously is a big part of what we do and has been in terms of the return game," Chudzinski said. "It's a tough loss for us, but we'll have some guys step up."

Benjamin suffered the injury in the third quarter of Cleveland's 23-17 loss to Kansas City on Sunday. The injury ended up being a big one for the Browns because of a fourth quarter mistake made by Benjamin's replacement, Davone Bess.

With the Browns only trailing 20-17, the Chiefs were forced to punt from their own 10-yard line. Bess muffed Dustin Colquitt's punt and Kansas City recovered it at the Chiefs 47. If Bess had caught the punt, the Browns would have been less than 20 yards from a potential game-tying field goal.

As for Benjamin, his season ends with 257 punt return yards, the third-highest total in the NFL. Benjamin also averaged 11.7 yards per return, ranking sixth in the league. The Browns fourth-round pick in 2012 also had a 79-yard punt return for a touchdown in Cleveland's Week 5 win over the Bills.

The explosive Benjamin spent some time at wide receiver too, hauling in five catches for 105 yards in 2013.
