Rex Ryan pokes fun at brother Rob

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer

When the Jets face the Saints this Sunday in the Meadowlands, New York's offense will try to beat up on the Saints defense, led by defensive coordinator Rob Ryan -- who you probably know is the brother of Jets head coach Rex Ryan.

Upcoming family reunion be damned, Rex had an interesting prop to bring into his meeting with the media Wednesday.

In case you can't read the whole thing, Rex's sign reads, "Sorry about that Jets/I wish I could look as good as my twin."

Rob's pained picture came courtesy of the Patriots after Tom Brady threw a last-second touchdown to hand the Saints their only loss this season.

Rex was then asked which twin looks better, and he responded by saying, "Oh, please. Clearly the lap band [surgery] worked for me."

Indeed, Ryan looks like a shell of his former self. As you can see in this photo taken with Bengals coach Marvin Lewis from 2009.

For the record, this is the third time a defense coached by Rob will face Rex when the latter is a head coach. In Week 1 of the 2011 season when Rob was the defensive coordinator in Dallas, the Jets won 27-24, and in Week 10 of the 2010 season when Rob was the defensive coordinator in Cleveland, the Jets won 26-20 in overtime.

The two met as dueling defensive coordinators in 2006 and 2008 (when Rex was with the Ravens and Rob was with the Raiders). The Ravens won 28-6 in 2006 and 29-10 in 2008.

That means Rob is 0-for-4 against his brother, and I imagine he would like to make sure Rex is the one with the pained look after Sunday's game.
