Sage Rosenfels calls Miami's Jeff Ireland a jerk, worst GM of his career

Though former quarterback Sage Rosenfels didn't spend much time with Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland, it didn't take him long to formulate an opinion on the man who's been accused of telling Jonathan Martin's agent to punch Richie Incognito.

Rosenfels, a 10-year veteran who's been out of the league two years, went off on his Twitter page Thursday, writing, "I only spent two weeks on the Dolphins when Ireland was the GM. In that short time he won the award for worst GM in my career." Then, savagely, Ireland hash-tags his update with #jerk.

But that's not all.

Rosenfels spent the first four seasons of his career in Miami from 2002-05, but when he returned to the Dolphins in the 2011 in what turned out to be the final season of his career, he writes, "It took about an hour to find out what everyone in that locker room thought of [Ireland]."

As for Rosenfels' saga, here's how he explains it.

He was placed on the Non-Football Injury list with mononucleosis, but after he was healthy, Rosenfels was healthy and wanted to play. Since the Raiders were set to play the Dolphins, though, Ireland apparently was worried Oakland would sign Rosenfels when Miami took him off the NFI list to try to get Dolphins intel before the game.

Makes sense, except ...

In the end, Rosenfels played for nine general managers during his career, and he was fired a number of times. But still, there's little question in his mind that Ireland was the worst of all.
