Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson was arrested early Saturday morning and is suspected of driving while impaired in Hennepin County, Minn., just a day after an improbable Minnesota comeback win over the Washington Redskins.

A search of Hennepin County jail records confirmed that Jerome Louis Simpson, born Feb. 4, 1986, was "received" by the jail at 5:39 a.m..

The Hennepin County jail confirmed that there is no scheduled court appearance for Simpson and he is currently being held without bail.

A jail spokesperson told CBSSports.com that there is a 36-hour hold for probable cause cases like this (excluding holidays and Sundays) so Simpson could be remain in jail until Tuesday. However, the spokesperson acknowledged that Simpson could see a judge. An updated search of Simpson on the Hennepin County website showed that he posted $12,000 bond but remains in custody.

A copy of the arrest report, obtained by CBSSports.com, shows that Simpson was in a Dodge Charger stalled on the side of the road. Simpson exited his vehicle after a trooper pulled up, at which point the trooper "observed signs of intoxication including watery eyes and slightly slurred speech."

Simpson performed sobriety tests and was then placed under arrest for DWI. Simpson was taken to Hennepin County jail where he refused to take a breathalyzer test.

Simpson was suspended for the first three games of the 2012 season and received 15 days in jail (and three years probation) stemming from a 2.5-pound package of marijuana that showed up at his house.

The Vikings, as teams always do in cases like these, say they are gathering info on the situation and will have further comment at the appropriate time.
