Ed Reed says Texans were 'outplayed and outcoached' in loss

By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com

Ed Reed has had a rough go of it in Houston. (USATSI)

The Texans dropped their seventh straight game Sunday. This did not sit well with Ed Reed, who signed a three-year, $15 million contract this offseason only to miss the first two games with a bum hip. Reed returned to start the next five games but lost his job to Shiloh Keo last week, and he barely saw the field against the Cardinals Sunday.

When asked why Houston lost again, Reed said the team was "outplayed and outcoached."

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is the team's interim head coach after Gary Kubiak collapsed on the field last week.

Defensive end J.J. Watt offered no comment when apprised of Reed's remarks.

Reed then tweeted this:

This probably won't endear Reed to a fan base already frustrated with his poor play. Heading into the game, Reed ranked 72nd out of 85 safeties, according to ProFootballFocus.com.

The 34-year-old future Hall of Famer is set to make $4 million in 2014 and $5 million in 2015 -- neither year is guaranteed -- which means that the Texans could cut ties with him this offseason.
