The Jaguars suffered another loss on Sunday, falling to 1-9 after losing to the Cardinals. This development didn't make wide receiver Cecil Shorts happy, particularly since he wasn't targeted heavily in the passing game.
And the wideout, who finished with just two catches for 22 yards, called his lack of receptions "f-----g dumb."
"I'm not holding my tongue anymore," Shorts said. "To have one target until seven minutes left in the game, that's [bleeping] dumb. That's dumb, period."
Shorts then went on to say he would have to "sit down" with Gus Bradley and the Jaguars coaching staff because his lack of attention in the game plan is "ridiculous."
"I have to say something and sit down with them because it's getting ridiculous, in my opinion," Shorts said.
Shorts, who was taken in the fourth round of the 2011 draft, has 58 catches on the season for 629 yards now. He's only caught four balls the past two weeks total though, and clearly isn't happy with the way he's trending.
It might have something to do with Chad Henne as well. Asked whether or not he took issue with the guy throwing him the ball, Shorts clammed up in a "plead the fifth" kind of way.
"I've said too much already," Shorts said.
Things aren't easy for the Jaguars right now. It's understandable why players are frustrated. But the Jags knew before this week that the Cardinals were going to stick Patrick Peterson on Shorts. It's not that crazy of an idea to try and run the offense through other players.
Just don't try to tell Shorts that.
