Robert Griffin III's father visited him in Redskins locker room

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

During the offseason, Robert Griffin III's father was a consistent presence for the Redskins. RG2 repeatedly offered his prognosis on RG3's health as he recovered from offseason knee surgery. He's hovered in the periphery ever since and popped up on the radar big time last night.

The elder Griffin, CSN Washington reports, was hanging out with his son by RGIII's locker after Washington's 27-6 loss to the 49ers on Monday.

Tarik El-Bashir reports that the pair "spoke at the son's locker room stall for several minutes" while Griffin was taking off his pads.

"The elder Griffin and his son seemed to have a lengthy and, at times, tense conversation. It's unclear what the two men were talking about," El-Bashir wrote.

Additionally, the elder Griffin also apparently attended his son's press conference and then went back to the locker room with Griffin after he talked to the media.

There's nothing wrong with RG2 being in the locker room or in the media session. If he's there after a win, I'd wager that no one notices or says anything about it. Or at least that no one cares.

But the Redskins didn't win. They lost in pretty embarrassing fashion at home during a prime time game. And it was clear that Griffin struggled throughout the game.

Take a struggling team, a major market, a coach under fire, a high-profile quarterback and you've already got enough blood in the water for the media and fans.

Add in a "football dad" hanging out by the locker room and it could be a long couple weeks for Griffin and the Redskins.
