Cary Williams on Bruce Arians ref complaints: 'Let's not be crybabies'

The Eagles-Cardinals rivalry is turning a little ... fowl. The two teams have been swinging barbs back and forth over the last few weeks and Philly cornerback Cary Williams might've done enough to push it over the edge on Tuesday.

Asked about Bruce Arians sending 15 clips of refs from the Arizona-Philly game to the league office for review, the oft-outspoken Williams said "let's not be crybabies."

"Let's not be crybabies, man," Williams said. “I thought the refs kept them in the game to some degree at times. But it's football, man. It's about going out there and executing. If they came in here with a different attitude, maybe not so nonchalant, thinking it was going to be a cakewalk."

Hey-o. Arians told reporters after the 24-21 loss that he sent a big clip of plays to the NFL league office for review and cited "problems in the ball game."

“There were obviously problems in the ball game,” Arians said. “There is a protocol to follow. We followed the protocol. [NFL VP of officiating] Dean Blandino does a great job being honest on the calls. We will follow up more with the answers ... later."

This wasn't the first bit of banter between the two teams though. Arians referred to Chip Kelly's offense as a "great college offense" and promptly got lit up by Nick Foles, who's since been named the Eagles starter for the next 1,000 years.

Williams brought it all back around, saying if Arians wanted to win he "should have coached a little better."

"We're all grown men. You lost, man," Williams said. "It's a game that you felt like you should have won. Well, you should have come out and played a little better, you should have coached a little better, whatever was going on. I heard a lot of stuff about Bruce Arians talking. You know how I feel about those Pittsburgh guys, anyway."

These teams are pretty unlikely to square off again, although it's conceivable that Philly wins the NFC East and Arizona sneaks in as a wild card. The Cards did serious damage to their playoff hopes with the loss to Philly, of course, but it sets up some hope for a spicy matchup down the road.
