Seahawks fans raise money to fly banner over Candlestick Park

By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com

This should go over well. One-hundred Seahawks supporters have pooled their money to fly a ”GO HAWKS-12″ banner over Candlestick Park Sunday prior to the Seahawks-49ers game. The "12" is in reference to the 12th man, the name for Seahawks' faithful at CenturyLink Field, home of the loudest fans on the planet.

The cost for flying the banner for 15 minutes prior to kickoff? $1,809.

The group has already raised more than $2,700, and the extra money will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, according to the Fundrazr.com website that also includes this message from Seahawks fan and banner organizer Cedric James Morris:

"Many of us can't make to Candlestick park to support our Seahawks on Dec. 8th when they play the 49ers. To show our dedication and support as members of the 12th man, Travis Platt and I (Cedric James Morris) propose that we fly a plane with a banner attached that reads 'GO HAWKS-12' over the stadium ... not just showing San Francisco, but the entire nation that we are the most passionate, the greatest, and the LOUDEST fans in the NFL. ... Let's show the world, and those 49ers; what the 12th Man is all about. ARE U FIRED UP? Let's make this happen my fellow 12's. ...

"As you all know we have a surplus of funds, so that surplus will go to our favorite charity, the Wounded Warrior Project."

As CSNBayArea.com points out, most fans will be tailgating before the game and won't be in the stadium.

In related news: No word on whether the 49ers will send out a follow-up email on proper cheering protocol in light of this latest development.
